Cabo Girão Skywalk

Cabo Girão Skywalk

Cabo Girão, located in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos on Madeira Island, is recognized as the highest cape in Europe, rising 580 meters above sea level. This promontory offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean, the city of Funchal, and the “fajãs” of Rancho and Cabo Girão — small cultivated plots at the base of the cliff. One of the main attractions is the suspended glass-floored platform, known as the “skywalk,” providing visitors with a unique and dizzying experience. The platform was inaugurated in 2012 and quickly became one of the island’s most popular attractions. Access to the viewpoint requires an entry fee of €3.00 for visitors over 12 years old, while children up to 12 years old (inclusive) are exempt. Tickets can be purchased on-site or through the SIMplifica portal. The viewpoint is open daily from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM. Nearby, visitors can find the Cliff Spot Cafe, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the scenery after the visit.

Fun Facts:

The name “Cabo Girão” originates from the fact that it was the point where the first reconnaissance voyage of the island ended during its discovery.
In January 2010, Portuguese parachutist Mário Pardo performed a daring jump from Cabo Girão on a motorcycle, parachuting down to the pebble beach.
